A Post-Christmas Reminder

It is the day after Christmas, and I have noticed people already packing away the decorations. It reminds me of when I was a little boy, and our family had packed up all the Christmas decorations and returned them to the attic for storage. After we were all complete, and setting down to rest, I noticed the plastic figure of the baby Jesus that was a part of our nativity scene.

I asked my parents “What should we do with Jesus?” I remember my dad climbing back into the attic to put the baby Jesus in its rightful place. That question though as always stuck with me. Many people today, just one day after the greatest time of the year, have already packed Jesus away not to bring Him out for another calendar year.

What about you? Is Jesus just something that you make time for just for one calendar month? Do you put Jesus in a certain place, and only get Him out when you have a crisis or a specific need? Or do you have Jesus near your heart every moment of everyday all year long?

We have been reminded over the past month that Jesus is the greatest gift of all. There is no need to exchange Him for a different size. He is just the right fit and will work with any home decor you need. He will never break or be outdated. You don’t have to worry about outgrowing Him. So when you really think about it, Jesus is the perfect gift.

Remember that God so loved you, that He gave His only begotten Son, that if you will believe in Him, you will never perish but will have eternal life. Yes, Jesus is the greatest gift of all!

As we reflect on the past few days, and prepare for 2020, let me ask you, “What will you do with Jesus this year?” He is the prefect gift, will meet your every need, will solve every problem, will be constant in your life, and will never leave or forsake you. So why not keep Jesus close to your heart, in fact why not let Him rule your heart from this day forward.

As we prepare for a new year, my prayer for you is that you not pack Jesus away until next year. I pray that you allow Him to rule your life everyday beginning NOW!
